Pepper Tree Winery was founded in 1991 and has been developed as one of the show places of Hunter Valley Wine Country. Pepper Tree is an integrated estate including vineyards, a deluxe guest house and one of the region's most famed restaurants - Robert's. Pepper Tree Wines is one of the most awarded boutiques wineries in Australia with over 200 awards in both National and International competitions.

In another life, John Davis, the owner of Pepper Tree, was a successful oil exploration geologist.In 1982 he bought his first vineyard and by 1988 his first winery. What started out as a serious hobby gradually became his sole business focus. Since the mid nineties he has used his geological knowledge to purchase select vineyard sites and plant all of them in four of Australia's permium grape growing areas. His purchase of Pepper Tree Wines in 2002 completed his objectice of putting together his vineyards with a compatible high qualiity boutique winery where wach vinyear's terrior can be fully brought to fruition. John's house is situated in the middle of our Hunter Valley vineyard at Mount View.
